Redesign America

Refocus. Retrain. Rebuild.

Employers.

THE REALITY.
You have to save the company.

You’ve made the announcement. It’s in the news, people are afraid, and employee morale is low. You have made the tough decision to downsize. By the year 2010 60% of Americans will be unemployed, under-employed or self employed.

THE DECISION.
Whether you are laying off 30, 300, 3,000 or 30,000 it affects the lives of many, as well as the economy. Now you are wondering if you’ve made the right decision.

The truth is you have made the only decision.

In your business labor is one of your biggest expense, you have to cut costs, let’s face it technology is more efficient and cutting the labor force is your only option.

Six months salary, 401ks, paid college tuition, all of these things you provide as an attempt to make the layoff transition less painful yet studies show that the average worker spends his or her severance pay within the first 45 days of being laid off. An excellent severance package in today’s global marketplace isn’t enough. The economy has changed; your company has to prepare for it and so does today’s U.S. worker.

THE SOLUTION.
Offer your employees the biggest gift preparation.
Preparation saves families, it saves communities, it saves the economy. We know that you care about your employees so prepare them for the change.

At Redesign America, Inc. it is our Mission to transform unemployed and underemployed Americans into successful self employed, entrepreneurs, business owners and independent professionals.

Founded in the fall of 2006, our program is based on the hands-on experience of successful business owners and entrepreneurs. We assist our members and attendees in starting, operating and growing their business.

LAY OFF STRATEGY LINKS

The links below will further assist you with the legalities of your layoff process.

DownSizing and Layoff Strategies
Your organization is either thinking about or has initiated layoffs, downsizing, rightsizing, staff cuts, or managed redundancy. Whatever you call it, these strategies for layoffs and downsizing will minimize the damage to those employees you lay off and the layoff survivors who remain.

Rapid Response Services for Employers
U.S. Department of Labor - Rapid Response is a pro-active, business-focused, and flexible strategy designed for two major purposes. First, to help growing companies access an available pool of skilled workers from other companies that are downsizing. And second, to respond to layoffs and plant closings by quickly coordinating services and providing immediate aid to companies and their affected workers.

The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act WARN
A Guide to Advance Notice of Closings and Layoffs - WARN offers protection to workers, their families and communities by requiring employers to provide notice 60 days in advance of covered plant closings and covered mass layoffs. This notice must be provided to either affected workers or their representatives (e.g., a labor union); to the State dislocated worker unit; and to the appropriate unit of local government.
